@Michael H Hallett, What an incredibly insightful way to describe this experience of both generational trauma, and healing. I’m absolutely fascinated. It’s only as an adult that I’ve realized that I need to listen to myself when I get frustrated by roadblocks. Yes, often they are the subconscious telling me to pause and listen. Once you do… they seem to magically fall away.

You’re story about trying to get into the archives was brilliant. I feel as though I was right there with you, even as the door suddenly appears.

Now, I have to say that at the end of it, I was jonesing for a link to that Antiques Roadshow episode. You didn’t spoonfeed me with it, so I went hunting. Wouldn’t you know it, I found something that I think was even better: An old flyer’s fanboy describing the story to its fullest as it starts with the Antiques Roadshow episode. 🥹 It’s the perfect coda: https://youtu.be/V7I0TMi5fg8?feature=shared&t=17

Michael, I have known some of your story for a while but seeing it put so beautifully in this post made be feel like I was learning about it for the first time. The work you do with understanding Ancestral and Intergenerational trauma is so incredibly important. Keep writing Substack blogs! It needs to be shared…
